Modern lines and effortless style help show off your favorite prints on my Sweet Harmony Handbag & Tote. Easy-to-make in two sizes, there are simple instructions for a magnetic closure on the Handbag, and easy pockets on the insides to keep all of your treasures in sweet harmony!

Allow extra yardage for matching or centering a design on your fabric.

The Sweet Harmony Bag comes in two sizes: The “Handbag” is a smaller bag with magnetic closures, the “Tote” is a larger bag with a shoulder strap and no closure.

There are 2 options for making the Exterior. The first option uses one main print; the second uses two.

There are also 2 options for making the Interior Pockets. Choose your favorite or make one of each!

Either size bag can be made using 44” wide light to mid-weight fabric OR 54” wide mid-weight Home Dec fabric.

PLUS (for either fabric width) -44” wide fusible fleece (we use fusible Thermolam Plus® by Pellon®) Please check the chart above for the fleece required for the bag you're making.

-From 44” wide mid-weight fusible interfacing (we use Decor Bond® by Pellon®). If using 44" wide fabric: 2 1/8 yards for the Handbag 2 5/8 yards for the Tote If using 54" wide fabric: 2 yards for the Handbag 2 1/8 yards for the Tote

-Size 6/32” cotton cording: 7/8 yard for the Handbag or 1 1/4 yards for the Tote. The cording can be found in the home decorating dept of most fabric stores.

-1 large spool of coordinating all-purpose thread (we us Coats Dual Duty XP®)

-3/8 yard of 20” wide Peltex® #70 by Pellon® or similar extra heavy sew-in stabilizer

If you’re making the Interior Pockets with the zipper closure, you’ll also need: -1 or 2 20” coordinating polyester all-purpose zipper(s) (we use Coats brand zippers)(depending on how many zipper pockets you make)

If you’re making the Handbag: -2 (size 1/2”) magnetic closures

EXTRA NOTIONS NEEDED: Chalk Pencil, Hand sewing needle, 1 pkg of wax-free tracing paper from Prym-Dritz™, Schmetz™ jeans / denim sharp point sewing machine needles size 100/16 or other heavyweight sewing machine needles size 16

TOOLS NEEDED: Scissors, Straight pins, Iron and Ironing board, Pressing cloth, Ruler, Pencil, Turning tool (such as a closed pair of scissors), Seam ripper, Safety pins, Zipper foot for your sewing machine, Pearl / Piping foot for your sewing machine (optional)

Finished Sizes: Handbag - 12 1/2” wide across the bottom x 8 3/4” tall (17” tall with Handle) x 3” deep Tote - 17 1/2” wide across the bottom x 11 1/2” tall (23 1/2” tall with Strap) x 4” deep
